You've heard of Crazy Legs Johnson? (Me neither, actually. Just go with it.) Well they call me Crazy Arms Mookie.

Today

Today was a super chill day. I did very little other than sleep and eat. A lot of eating. Mom said since this time last night I've probably eaten at least 12 times. Just now I'm eating again only 20 minutes after my last feeding ended. And I sleep really good, only waking up when I'm ready to eat.

I'm also starting to open my eyes a lot more. And I'm staying awake more after I'm done nursing.

Let's have a contest. Everyone visit the comments section and guess what I'm thinking here. The winner gets a diaper full of my homemade treats! (Dad already guessed that I'm pondering my NCAA Tournament bracket, which is obviously goofy because everyone knows Selection Sunday is weeks away).

Homeward bound
I'm sitting in a railway station got a ticket for my destination...

Well, after four crazy days I'm finally back home tonight. And man let me tell you it is good to be home.
The trip home was probably the longest cross town trip since O.J. took a ride in a white Bronco. It took my poor Dad about an hour and a half just to pack the car. He said I travel about as light as a touring rock band. Ha ha, what a kidder!

Anyway, I'm pretty wiped out tonight after the long trip, not to mention a particularly confusing "medical procedure" I underwent this morning. What was that all about you weirdos? Finally a San Francisco political movement I can get behind!
("Intactivists," get it?)
Anyway, Mom's super wiped out too, poor lady. She crashed pretty hard when she got home. Notice the sleeping with her mouth open. I wonder if that has something to do with the two Vicodins she took for the car ride home?

Visitors from the Southland
The last few days I've had a chance to meet some really cool folks from down south. Here I am with Mom's family, minus Uncle Wael who had to leave to go back to work.

After a couple days struggling to learn how to eat I've finally gotten the hang of it. And now that I know what I was missing I have been nursing almost constantly. Last night, for example, I spent almost the entire night at my mom's breast, either nursing or sleeping. I've been an eating machine!
Which of course brings with it the Thanksgiving effect. Nothing better than a nap after a big meal. Here I am with Grandpa holding me while I chill.

And this is one proud Dad.
He loves me so so much.
Grandma Sue took a big long turn holding me. Something tells me she and I are gonna be pretty good buds. The rumor is that she really likes to spoil people. And since I like being spoiled, it just makes perfect sense.
Uncle Danny and Grandpa.

And here's uncle Wael hanging with me and Mom.

Hello world!
Here I am everyone!

I have to say it was a pretty wild experience all in all. My mom woke up around 1 a.m. with somewhat serious contractions and by 9:30 her water broke. By the time we got to the hospital her contractions were getting pretty close together and she was in pretty serious pain. So they gave her an epidural to ease the pain, which worked immediately and very effectively. Except, out of nowhere my heart rate dropped very low and the doctors were having a hard time getting it back up. My Dad said he had only gotten to the hospital for a few minutes and there were like seven people in scrubs running into her room. They started to wheel her off to emergency surgery but then my heart rate came back up. Dad was pretty scared. This happened about four times so they decided to do the surgery and then next thing I knew I was here.
I once heard of this comedian, Steven Wright, who said he was born C-Section so now every time he leaves a house he goes through the window. (Little comedy for the fans).
So here I am making my grand entrance. That's my head coming out of my Mom's belly. Pretty cool, right?

Dad took almost all of these pictures right in the operating room. He said that was an experience he will definitely never forget.
He is my hand emerging from my previous living arrangement.

Here I am again with SOME of the doctors and nurses who were part of my welcoming party. See them holding me in the foreground?

That's my Dad cutting my umbilical cord.

Here I am getting weighed. 8 pounds 1 ounce and 21 inches long.
Here's Dad trying to comfort my while they finished Mom's surgery. This is right in the operating room. I was crying so hard, but when I heard my Dad's voice I immediately settled down and tried to look for him.
And here I am meeting my Mom for the very first time.

Ready or not...
Mom woke my Pop up at 3 a.m. this morning. Kind of weird. She's standing over the bed, fully showered, mumbling something about turning on the light so she can find a pair of shorts. I know, 3 a.m., right? Crazy lady. Then she said something about "contractions" and the guy freaked. He told me today's gonna be a pretty big day for me.
I wonder if all of this has something to do with my reaction to seeing this during the big game yesterday. That guy cracks me up. I laughed so hard and started kicking and everything. I wonder if I jarred something loose.

And now for something completely different
No news is good news, right Mom? O.K. maybe not. I wonder what's got her so grumpy.
Anyway, since there are no new updates I thought I would share a report from my Dad's exotic native lands. This lady cross country ski'd down Woodward Avenue from Royal Oak to downtown Detroit for work on Wednesday morning. My father's kin seem like exceptionally strong and resourceful people.

All Smiles...
Hey there cousin Mookie. You should check out this new trick I learned. It gets all of the big people excited. They start doing funny things, making funny faces, and talk gibberish too. Can't wait for you to get here...your Mommy looks really pretty in the party pictures and it looks like you have a lot of nice things! Looking forward to seeing you soon...

My first party
It's pretty amazing how easy it is to be popular around here. Take these people, for example. Just recently, they and a few others threw a big huge whoppin party in my honor. Crazy, right? They don't even know me yet. All I had to do was that trick where I kick mom's belly and they think I'm awesome.

It was quite the scene. There were games, food and lots and lots of presents. Presents! For me! Can you believe it?

I put my mom in charge of opening them and taking care of them until I'm ready to use them.
I gotta say, though. The best part of the day was definitely the cupcakes. Mom and I had a deal. She would give me as many as I wanted to eat as long as I didn't tell anybody how many she ate. My lips are sealed.

Guest Blogger
Hi everyone, this is Mookie again. I know all of you are getting anxious for the big day. My mom especially seems to be in a big hurry but there isn't really a whole lot I can do to move things along.
While you wait, I wanted to introduce you to a guest blogger. This is my older cousin Peanut. She's gonna be posting some stuff of her own from time to time. So everybody say hi and welcome her to the blog.
